Oral health visits to local schools

Finkle Hill Dental school visits

At Finkle Hill Dental, we believe our responsibilities goes beyond the excellent care we provide within the practice. With access to dentistry at an all time low, and poor dental health being the number one reason children visit A and E, for almost ten years we tried to do our bit to educate children. Every year, we make regular visits to our local primary schools to teach children about oral health, how to brush effectively and help them to make healthy food choices for themselves. Prevention is key!

With the General Election upon us, all parties having made commitments to improve access to NHS dental care, including a pledge by the Labour Party to provide dental education in every school. We even invited local MP Keir Mather to join us on our visits to show how it’s done.

Here are some photos from a number of local schools we have visited this summer. As we offer this for free, we only have a limited number of slots each year but we try to be fair how we allocate these. Get in touch if you want to book in for next year.

And here’s a lovely review left by one happy school, Barlby Bridge.

Lauren Thompson recently visited our primary school (Barlby Bridge in Selby) to teach the children about oral hygiene. It was a comprehensive and interactive experience which all the pupils thoroughly enjoyed. The visit began with an assembly to the whole school followed by a teeth brushing workshop for EVERY class. The children were so excited to learn how to look after their teeth and they even made posters to showcase all of their learning. Thank you so much Lauren Thompson and Finkle Hill for such a great day!
