New patients are very welcome at Finkle Hill Dental and with three exceptional general dentists (Cliff, Clare and Liam), you can choose the best person for you. Expect friendly and compassionate care from all the team.
As a new patient, you will receive:
- Welcome appointment – during your first appointment, we welcome you to the practice, discuss your dental history and aspirations, and take a 3D scan of your mouth. We find investing this time upfront helps to build long term, trusting relationships with our patients.
- Oral health assessment – this is much more than a check-up. Having already discussed your care with our Treatment Coordinator, your dentist will have the time to get to know you, set you at ease, undertake a thorough oral health assessment including x-rays and discuss treatment and membership options. It’s time well spent.
If you have an emergency that needs urgent treatment, you can usually be seen within 24 hours.
Children usually skip the welcome appointment unless this would help them to manage any phobias.
What to expect when you book a new patient appointment with Finkle Hill Dental
We look forward to welcoming you to the practice and beginning your new patient journey. If you have any questions about the consultation process or would like to book in, please get in touch with our reception team on 01977 682200 or hello@finklehilldental.co.uk.
Before your first appointment
We'll send you a link to an online form which will ask about your medical history. Please update us on any conditions you have, medication you take, the details of your GP practice and an emergency contact. This information will enable us to make the correct clinical decisions for you. If you can't complete this online, please don't worry, you can do it on the day of your appointment at the practice.
We send text or email reminders to confirm your appointments. If you need to change or cancel, please allow 48 hours' notice. If you haven't paid already, we will also collect payment in advance of your first appointment.
On the day
On the day of your appointment please allow around 45 minutes to an hour. Prior to seeing the dentist you will usually meet one of our treatment coordinators first. They will discuss any specific queries or concerns, take an iTero scan (a visual 3D scan of the teeth and gums) and tell you about our membership options. If you haven't been to the dentist for a while or are interested in more complex treatments, we will invite you to a longer appointment with a treatment coordinator.
Your appointment with the dentist will be around 30 minutes. The dentist will have time to answer any queries you have and will undertake a thorough clinical and radio-graphical exam, including oral cancer screening. They will use the digital scan to show you what they can see in your mouth, to help you understand any treatment needs and your options. If you need treatment, we will email you a costed treatment plan and relevant information about the treatment for you to review at home. Our treatment coordinators are available every day to answer any questions you may have.
