Getting children of any age to brush their teeth is tricky, but we have everything in place to make it easier. Our children’s membership plan is £6 per month for those aged 4-17, and free for under 4s.
We are happy to see children from their very first tooth, so we can help you establish a good routine and technique from the start. We have a dedicated children’s area in reception, accessible facilities, flexible appointment times, and provide helpful hints and tips during your visit. All our dentists are chatty, reassuring and take great care of children.
Both in the practice and visiting local schools, our Children’s Coordinator, Lauren Thompson educates children (and parents) on the importance of good brushing and healthy teeth.

Regular dental health reviews
We know it’s not always easy to schedule appointments around school and work, which is why we offer flexible appointment times that fit around you. We’ll help you keep on top of your family’s regular dental care.
Fluoride application
Did you know there is no fluoride in the Yorkshire water supply? Even children who brush their teeth regularly don’t always do a great job. So it’s good to have a little extra protection when you need it. Fluoride varnish, a special gel applied to children’s teeth, is highly effective at reducing decay. We visit local schools to provide dental assessments and offer twice-yearly fluoride varnish applications, to support all the effort you put in at home.
Oral health education
Every child should have the chance of strong, healthy teeth and we’re here to help families achieve that on Finkle Hill. As part of our work both in the practice and in the wider local community, we provide Oral Health Education sessions. These show children how different foods affect their teeth, discover the hidden plaque on their teeth and learn the best way to brush to avoid future problems. We also work with providers of care to older people too.
Mouth guards
Mouth guards are devices worn over your teeth to protect them from injury. Finkle Hill Dental provides custom-made mouth guards for sports such as rugby and hockey and conditions such as teeth grinding.
There are many different types of mouth guards; you can buy some in sports shops or chemists, or you can purchase a bespoke mouth guard from your dentist. Bespoke mouth guards are custom-made to fit your mouth and teeth perfectly, so they offer the best possible comfort and protection. They’re made of stronger materials and usually last longer than over-the-counter varieties. We take a quick, digital scan of your mouth, send the design to our lab and have your guard back to you within a week or so.
